Quote of the Day – writers live forever

“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”

Chuck Palahniuk in ‘The Diary’

I think this is the goal of every writer: to create a small world of characters who will live on when we can’t; to create something that just might inspire and entertain for generations to come; to leave a little bit of ourselves in this bizarre and wonderful world. We remain alive for as long as our works are read.

  1. This kind of reminds me of a couple lines from one of Shakespeare’s sonnets- I forget which one- that I memorized a few years ago
“… but thy eternal summer shall not fade!
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest,
nor shall death brag thou wanderest in his shade
when in eternal lines to time thou growest.
So long as men can breath, or eyes can see,
so long lives this, and this gives life to thee.”
