I love a lot of these too! Great books 🙂
I completely agree!
I love how you read. When I grow up I hope I can have a reading list like yours. Right now I’m all over the place and mostly stuck in Historical Genres.
Oh thank you! But don’t be deceived – I’m all over the place too! I go through phases and when I’m in the middle of one, I can barely tolerate to read anything outside of it! Historical genres are wonderful – they’ll provide you with so much understanding and knowledge of humanity, who we are and how we’ve become this way. I wish I had more of an interest in historical genres. Keep reading!
If you like Harry Potter, check out John’s Christopher’s White Mountain Trilogy. They consist of The White Mountains, The City of Gold and Lead, and The Pool of Fire.
There may have been a forth book, but I it wasn’t one that I read, and isn’t necessary (as far as I can tell, not having read it).
Brilliant scifi that doesn’t pander.
Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll look them up 🙂
I’m a bit (just a bit) more partial to 1984 than Animal Farm, mostly because of how much it seemed to mirror my own ideas of the future at the time.
I read Animal Farm as part of school and found 1984 by myself, so maybe that also plays a part too. Animal Farm is definitely more interesting, 1984 is a bit dry at times.
Could never get myself to like Life of Pi. I know its a good book, but it never really gripped my like everyone else said it would.
Quite the same, I read Animal Farm at school and then found 1984 myself but quite the opposite, I much preferred Animal Farm. For me, it was a succinct and clever satyr whereas 1984 was, like you said, quite dry. Life of Pi, on the other hand, I adored. Perhaps because I love books that are metaphors for life and partly because I love Yann Martel’s writing.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Great choices! I love To Kill a Mockingbird!
Thanks!
